Family
Most people do not read one chart.
They read their mother's, their child's, and their own — and want to know how the three sit together. The app is built that way from the home screen out.
The home screen
Svayam (Myself) — Your own chart, and the one the daily reading opens on. Exactly one chart holds this place.
Svajana (Family) — Everyone in the house, each with their relation to you — mother, son, sister. Their charts are read together as a household, not as a stack of strangers.
Para (Other) — One chart for someone outside the family — a friend, or a match being considered.
Beside them sits Guṇa Milāna, which takes any two of those charts and scores the classical eight kūṭas.
Read together
The family reading is its own view, not a longer list. It looks at the household's charts side by side and says what is true of the group:
- Who is passing through Sāḍe-Sātī at the same time, and who is not.
- The season each person is in, from their running daśā period.
- How the pairs read against each other, without anyone having to run a match.
Birthdays, both ways
A birthday happens twice in this tradition, and the app keeps both:
- The calendar date you would write on a form.
- The lunar return — the tithi, or the nakṣatra the Moon stood in when they were born. You pick which one each person keeps.
- A word thirty days out, again at seven, and a greeting on the morning itself that names their birth star.
